Summary
This position is to ensure high quality fabrication and welding is completed as a working department lead. Exceed customer demands on production rates, quality, workmanship and deadlines. This position reports directly to the Compliance and Fabrication Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- Post-secondary training in welding and fabrication, preferred. Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with related work history.
- 4 years’ experience, skilled in all welding processes and fabrication methods
- Familiar with GMAW, FCAW, SMAW processes, in addition to plasma and oxyacetylene cutting
- Experience with carbon air arc, preferred.
- Be detail oriented and take pride in your work
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
- Must obtain and maintain all mandatory training and certifications
- Forklift and wheel loader operation
Specific Duties
- Lead and enforce Superior’s Company policies and procedures
- Lead proper SER/OHSA safety procedures and practices. Work in a safe manner around all equipment
- Fabricate steel assemblies to required tolerances from drawings provided.
- Assign, lead, and review the work of skilled and related personnel engaged in the welding/fabrication process in the shop.
- Ensure a high-quality level in all stages of manufacturing.
- Perform visual/dimensional inspection of assemblies to ensure quality standards are met.
- Work efficiently to meet and beat deadlines
- Responsible for organization and cleanliness of the shop while always looking for better ways to improve throughput.
- Responsible for following Scope of Work (SOW) and Best Management Practices (BMP).
- Oversee, perform, and/or assign maintenance of equipment.
Quality requirements: Must ensure that customer specification and requirements are clearly understood and communicated, all policies and procedures are followed and that proper records are completed as required.

The Big Switch® Biobased Erosion & Filtration Medium (Switchgrass)
Superior Energy Resources, LLC (SER) is an authorized distributor of The Big Switch® biobased erosion/filtration medium by BEG Group, LLC. This product, made from switchgrass, is highly regarded for its effectiveness in environmentally sensitive projects managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (Pa DEP) and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). It has also been approved for use in West Virginia and Ohio.
What is a Biobased Product?
The Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002, as defined by the United States Secretary of Agriculture, states that a biobased product is "a commercial or industrial product (other than food or feed) that is, wholly or significantly, made from biological products or renewable domestic agricultural materials, including plant, animal, and marine materials or forestry products."
Applications

Works under the direction of the Weld Shop Supervisor to ensure high quality fabrication and welding is done. Will weld, cut, grind, and fit to complete projects. Build projects for customers, both internal and external with the same attention to details. Exceed customer demands on production rates, quality, workmanship and deadlines.

- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers and supervisors.
- Must obtain and maintain all mandatory training and certifications

Specific Duties:
- Learn, follow, and enforce Superior’s Company policies and procedures
- Follow proper SER/OHSA safety procedures and practices. Work in a safe manner around all equipment
- Wear personal protective equipment at all times in designated work area/job sites and dress in accordance with company policy
- Fabricate steel assemblies to required tolerances from drawings or sketches, including accurate lay out and prep of the material and joints
- Ensure a high quality level in all stages of manufacturing, especially finished products
- Perform own visual inspection of assemblies to ensure the best product possible
- Efficient use of all materials and consumables to minimize waste
- Always be looking for ways to improve
- Track time and material used on projects to help with job costing analysis
- Work efficiently to meet and beat deadlines
- Testing to determine welder classification, promotions, and opportunities for advancement
- Exercise proper care, understanding and maintenance of company equipment
- Exercise proper care and use of all tools as per Company Policies
- Perform general housekeeping at the job site or in the shop; maintain a neat, safe and organized work area
- Report any unsafe practices/situations to Supervisor
- Assist in identifying and addressing safety issues around work area
